ADNOC has reported accelerated progress in developing the Diyab unconventional gas play in Abu Dhabi, moving the project from appraisal toward early development while applying U.S. shale drilling techniques to enhance efficiency. This landmark advancement is critical to the UAE's strategy for achieving national gas self-sufficiency, as the Diyab concession holds an estimated 160 trillion cubic feet of recoverable resources that could fuel the country for decades. The project, led by ADNOC in partnership with TotalEnergies, has already delivered the UAE's first unconventional gas to a pipeline, marking a transformative step in the nation's energy journey and reducing reliance on oil. By de-risking these vast unconventional resources and boosting domestic supply, ADNOC aims to support the clean energy transition and align with broader economic goals to reduce oil dependency.
