Abu Dhabi’s state energy company ADNOC has approved a $6.2 billion investment to develop the Umm Shaif gas cap, a major offshore project aimed at expanding natural gas production and boosting liquefied natural gas exports. The project, developed with partners including TotalEnergies, Eni and China National Petroleum Corporation, is expected to unlock more than 600 million standard cubic feet of gas and associated liquids per day, or nearly 10% of the UAE’s current daily gas consumption. Production is slated to begin by 2030. The move underscores ADNOC’s push to accelerate its gas growth strategy and strengthen long-term supply capacity.
