Anthropic launched Claude Design on Friday, a new AI-powered tool that enables users to create visual content including prototypes, slides, one-pagers, and marketing materials through natural language prompts. The product, powered by Claude Opus 4.7, is designed to help founders, product managers, and other non-designers quickly transform ideas into polished visual work without requiring professional design expertise.
The tool operates through a conversational interface where users describe what they want to create, and Claude generates an initial version. Users can then refine the output through direct edits, inline comments, custom sliders that allow real-time manipulation of elements, or by prompting Claude to make adjustments through chat. According to Anthropic Labs, teams have already been testing Claude Design for realistic prototypes, wireframes, mockups, design explorations, pitch decks, presentations, and social media assets.
Claude Design includes several features designed for enterprise and team collaboration. The system can read a company's codebase and design files to apply consistent brand elements—including colors, typography, and components—across all generated designs. Teams can maintain multiple design systems and export their work in various formats including PDFs, URLs, PPTX files, and standalone HTML. Importantly, designs can also be exported to Canva for further collaborative editing and refinement, positioning Claude Design as complementary to existing design tools rather than as a replacement.
The launch positions Anthropic in direct competition with established design software companies. While Claude Design shares similarities with AI capabilities that Adobe and Figma have been developing, Anthropic emphasizes that its tool targets a different use case—moving quickly from concept to visual prototype without starting from within a traditional design application. The product represents a notable expansion of Anthropic's enterprise strategy, as the company increasingly develops specialized applications built on its Claude models.
Claude Design is available immediately in research preview for Claude Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise subscribers. The product is built on Claude Opus 4.7, Anthropic's newly released flagship model that the company describes as more capable at vision tasks and better suited for creating high-quality interfaces and professional designs. The simultaneous release of the model and the design tool underscores Anthropic's focus on developing practical AI applications for workplace productivity and team collaboration.
