Anthropic reportedly commits $35 billion to Lambda for AI computing
Anthropic has reportedly agreed to pay $35 billion to Lambda for access to the immense computing power needed to train and run its Claude AI services. This is not a purchase of a data center: Lambda, a cloud provider backed by Nvidia, would supply the processing capacity from a Texas facility that Hut 8 is developing. Nvidia is woven through the arrangement as both Lambda’s backer and the reported leaseholder for the site, underscoring how the chipmaker is extending its role from selling processors to helping assemble the infrastructure around them. For Anthropic, the deal is a way to reserve scarce capacity before it is needed; for the industry, it shows that building leading AI products increasingly means locking in power, buildings, and chips years ahead.
