Audi plans its first US factory in Georgia
Audi, part of Volkswagen Group, plans to spend about $4 billion on its first US production site, in Georgia. The factory is designed to build up to 200,000 vehicles a year—mainly premium SUVs aimed at North American buyers—and is expected to create roughly 4,500 jobs. Construction is slated to begin in 2027, with production not expected until the early 2030s, so this is a long-term manufacturing bet rather than an immediate expansion of supply. Building locally gives Audi a way to grow in the US while reducing its exposure to import tariffs and other risks of shipping vehicles in from overseas.
