HackerRank rolls out AI interviewer after 500,000 beta sessions
HackerRank says its AI interviewer, Chakra, completed more than 500,000 interviews during a roughly six-month beta and is now available to customers. Snowflake, Snorkel, and Capgemini were among the early testers. Rather than giving candidates a standard coding quiz, Chakra puts them to work in a real codebase alongside an AI assistant, asks follow-up questions about their choices, and produces a report for the hiring team. The idea reflects a new hiring problem: when AI can help almost anyone produce plausible code, employers increasingly want to see how a candidate reasons, checks the machine’s output, and steers it toward a solution—not just whether the final answer works.
