Malaysia Forecasts Electronics Exports to Exceed 800 Billion Ringgit by 2026
Malaysia’s electrical and electronics exports, including semiconductors, are on track to exceed 800 billion ringgit, or about $197 billion, in 2026, according to the country’s chip industry chief. The forecast underscores how Malaysia is trying to position itself as a bigger winner from global demand for chips, data centers and artificial intelligence infrastructure.
Wong Siew Hai, president of the Malaysia Semiconductor Industry Association, said the country’s semiconductor exports alone could reach about $200 billion this year, Bloomberg reported from the sidelines of the Invest Malaysia conference in Kuala Lumpur. A separate Bloomberg report said the broader electrical and electronics sector could top 800 billion ringgit, highlighting the scale of the industry’s contribution to the economy.
