Power users expand lawsuit over Anthropic’s Claude Max plans

Claude subscribers have expanded a proposed class action accusing Anthropic of selling its $100-a-month Max 5x and $200 Max 20x plans with a misleading picture of how much work they allow. The dispute is about two limits that run at once: Anthropic promotes the tiers as providing five or 20 times Pro-plan usage in a five-hour session, while a separate weekly cap can stop heavy users much sooner. Plaintiffs say the weekly limits mean the top plans deliver far less usable capacity than those labels imply; Anthropic says allowances also vary with the model, conversation length, files, and tools used. No court has ruled on the claims, but the case highlights a basic problem for AI subscriptions: customers are buying access to expensive computing power whose practical limit is difficult to translate into a simple number.
