Saudi Arabia signs four battery storage deals totaling 2,000 MW to support grid flexibility

Saudi Arabia’s Power Procurement Company has signed four battery energy-storage agreements totaling 2,000 megawatts of capacity for four hours of storage, with the projects carrying reported investment of more than $1.16 billion. The deals are part of the kingdom’s broader push to add flexible power capacity that can help balance its grid and support growing renewable energy use. One agreement was awarded to a consortium led by Engie, which was separately reported to be expanding its clean-energy presence in Saudi Arabia.
