Spotify has launched a new fitness category in its app, partnering with Peloton to bring over 1,400 guided workout classes directly to users alongside content from popular influencers. The move transforms the music streaming giant into a comprehensive wellness platform, offering everything from quick yoga sessions and Pilates routines to strength training and meditation—all accessible without specialized equipment like Peloton bikes.
Available starting April 27 in markets including the US, UK, Australia, Germany, Austria, Canada, Mexico, Sweden, and Spain, the fitness section integrates seamlessly with Spotify's existing music, podcasts, and video features. Premium subscribers get full access to ad-free Peloton classes in English, Spanish, and German, led by renowned instructors such as Rebecca Kennedy, Ally Love, and Rad Lopez, while free users can explore curated workout playlists and select videos from creators like Chloe Ting, Yoga With Kassandra, Pilates Body By Raven, and Sweaty Studio. Workouts range from a few minutes to full hour-long sessions, covering strength, cardio, barre, stretching, floor cardio, outdoor runs, and more, with the option to switch between video on a TV and audio for activities like running.
Spotify's Global Head of Podcasts, Roman Wasenmüller, described the expansion as turning the platform into a "true daily wellness companion," building on its role as the soundtrack for workouts worldwide. Nearly 70% of Premium users already engage in fitness monthly, with over 150 million active workout playlists globally, making this a natural evolution. Peloton's Chief Commercial Officer, Dion Camp Sanders, highlighted the partnership's potential to make expert-led instruction as easy as playing a playlist, expanding Peloton's reach to Spotify's hundreds of millions of users without disclosing financial terms.
This development affects a broad audience of fitness enthusiasts who already rely on Spotify for motivation, now gaining a one-stop hub for guided sessions that fit busy lifestyles. It positions Spotify to compete in the booming wellness market, where users seek integrated experiences across devices and content types. Influencers and creators benefit from greater visibility, while Peloton taps into new revenue through wider distribution.
Looking ahead, Spotify plans to add more content regularly, signaling the start of a broader wellness push that could include future expansions in meditation, mindfulness, or other health-focused areas. For users, the next steps are simple: open the app, navigate to the new Fitness tab, and start moving—whether for a 10-minute glutes circuit or a full-body HIIT session. As reported by Peloton's investor release and Spotify's announcements, this integration aims to make purposeful activity as effortless as streaming a song.
