Trump Delays Executive Orders to Cut Beef Tariffs and Support U.S. Ranchers
U.S. President Donald Trump was initially set to sign executive orders on Monday to ramp up beef imports and support the rebuilding of the nation's cattle herd, aiming to combat record-high beef prices amid the smallest U.S. herd in 75 years. According to a White House official cited by The Western Producer, the measures would temporarily suspend tariff-rate quotas on beef, allowing more meat to enter the U.S. at lower tariff rates from various exporting nations. This follows earlier actions, such as quadrupling imports from Argentina last October and lifting a 40 percent tariff on Brazilian beef and coffee a month later.
