Tulsi Gabbard Resigns as Director of National Intelligence to Care for Husband
Tulsi Gabbard said she is stepping down as director of national intelligence, with her last day expected to be June 30, according to Bloomberg reports. The move marks another change in President Donald Trump’s Cabinet and comes as Gabbard, one of the administration’s most prominent intelligence officials, prepares to leave the post after less than a year in office.
According to Bloomberg’s reporting, Gabbard said she is resigning to help her husband deal with a rare form of bone cancer. The announcement came amid mounting attention on her position within the administration, where she had at times been viewed as increasingly out of step with the White House on foreign policy and national security matters, particularly because of her anti-war views.
