Volkswagen halts ID.4 production in Chattanooga to focus on gas-powered SUVs
Volkswagen has halted production of its all-electric ID.4 SUV at its Chattanooga, Tennessee factory, redirecting all resources to gas-powered vehicles like the upcoming Atlas SUV. According to TechCrunch, the company announced this shift on Thursday, stating that U.S. customers can still purchase the ID.4 from existing inventory expected to last into 2027.[1] Ars Technica reports that this makes Volkswagen the latest automaker to cancel an EV in favor of gasoline SUVs in America.
