White House Launches $5 Billion Genesis Mission to Accelerate AI-Driven Scientific Research

The White House announced the Genesis Mission, a whole-of-government AI-for-science initiative backed by more than $5 billion in federal commitments to speed research and discovery across major national priorities. Led by the White House and involving more than 15 federal agencies, the effort will connect national labs, universities, companies, and shared scientific data and computing resources through an integrated platform for training scientific AI models and automating research workflows. Officials say the mission is aimed at pressing challenges in health care, energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, and affordability, making it one of the administration’s largest bets on using AI to accelerate scientific breakthroughs.
