Apple’s iPhone Duo preorder backlog reaches January

Apple’s first foldable iPhone ran into a long wait almost as soon as preorders opened: customers who missed the earliest orders were being quoted delivery dates in late January 2027, rather than the October 23 launch date. The iPhone Duo opens into a tablet-size screen but folds down into a smaller phone, making it Apple’s long-awaited entry into a category Samsung and other Android makers have pursued for years. The delay shows that Apple’s initial supply was quickly spoken for, even with the Duo starting at $1,999. But it is not a clean measure of demand on its own: Apple has not disclosed how many units it allocated for launch, so the backlog could reflect tight production, strong buyer interest, or both.
