Ford, Geely Agree to Build Four Vehicles at Spain Plant for Europe Market
Monday, July 27, 2026
Ford and China’s Geely have agreed to jointly produce four vehicles in Spain for the European market, including two Geely electric SUVs and a new Ford-developed crossover with multiple powertrain options. The partnership is centered on Ford’s Valencia plant, where production is set to begin in 2028 after regulatory approval, with Ford keeping control of the joint venture and continuing to build the Kuga there in the meantime. The deal matters because it gives Geely its first European manufacturing base and helps Ford use underused factory capacity while both companies navigate tougher European content rules.
