Google gives its enterprise AI a visible presence

Google has added Live Avatar to Gemini 3.8 Live, turning its real-time voice assistant into an animated on-screen character whose mouth movements and facial expressions match the conversation. The feature is aimed at businesses building customer-service agents, guided demos, or other digital front desks, where a voice alone can feel impersonal or hard to follow. Gemini can take in what it hears and sees, respond in speech and video, and, Google says, keep talking while it fetches information or uses connected tools in the background. Available for Gemini Enterprise customers for now, it is less a consumer novelty than Google’s attempt to make automated business conversations feel more like dealing with a person.
