Google’s new Mac app takes AI meeting notes offline
Google has released AI Edge Foresight, a Mac app that records and transcribes virtual or in-person meetings, then turns rough bullet points into fuller notes and summaries. The important distinction is where the AI runs: instead of sending the conversation to a remote data center, the app processes the audio, transcript, and search requests on the user’s computer, and can keep working without an internet connection. That could make automated notes more practical for travel, unreliable connections, or meetings involving sensitive material that teams do not want to upload to a cloud service. For Google, the app is also a consumer-facing demonstration that smaller AI models can handle useful workplace tasks locally rather than relying entirely on expensive cloud computing.
