Kawasaki Heavy shares jump 12% on Nvidia partnership for physical AI robotics
Kawasaki Heavy Industries shares jumped as much as 12% on Friday, the biggest intraday gain since February 9, after the Japanese manufacturer said it plans to collaborate with Nvidia and other partners on physical AI robot technology, according to Bloomberg. The move reflected a broader market appetite for artificial intelligence-related stocks, which has been lifting shares across sectors and regions.
The proposed tie-up matters because it links Kawasaki Heavy, a company known for industrial machinery, transportation equipment and robotics, with Nvidia, whose chips and software have become central to the global AI boom. Physical AI generally refers to systems that connect artificial intelligence with machines that operate in the real world, such as robots and automated equipment. For Kawasaki Heavy, the partnership could deepen its role in advanced automation at a time when companies are racing to apply AI beyond software and into factories, logistics and other physical environments.
The rally in Kawasaki Heavy came as investors continued to favor the so-called AI trade in equity markets. Bloomberg reported that emerging-market stocks were heading for a weekly gain, with technology shares rising as money flowed into AI-related names and sentiment improved on easing tensions in the Middle East. That broad enthusiasm has helped lift a range of companies linked to AI hardware, software and services.
The momentum has not been limited to Japan. Bloomberg also reported that Lenovo Group shares were near all-time highs after the company posted strong AI-driven earnings growth, showing how investors are rewarding companies that can turn AI demand into revenue. In another sign of the sector’s appeal, Bloomberg said China’s Zhipu and Minimax may be candidates for inclusion in Hong Kong stock gauges, a move that could channel more investment into AI-focused companies through trading links.
For Kawasaki Heavy, the partnership plan could become an important strategic step if it leads to new products or commercial deployments. For now, the share reaction shows how strongly markets are responding to any credible connection to AI, especially when established industrial companies team up with major technology players like Nvidia.
