Meta plans up to $95 billion stock sale for AI buildout
Meta is seeking up to $95 billion in new equity, a striking signal that its AI push is becoming a construction project as much as a software effort. The company has launched about $35 billion in common stock and preferred shares that will eventually convert into common stock; a further $60 billion could be sold gradually through a planned new class of nonvoting shares, though Meta has not set up that program yet. The money is intended to help pay for data centers and computing capacity, alongside operating cash flow, debt and partnerships. Nvidia, AMD and Broadcom—major suppliers of the chips and systems Meta needs—have expressed nonbinding interest in up to $5 billion of the initial common-stock sale, tying some hardware makers more closely to a customer poised to spend heavily on their equipment.
