Oil jumps as Saudi pipeline disruption compounds shipping risks
Tuesday, September 15, 2026
Oil prices rose more than 2%, pushing Brent crude toward $107–$109 a barrel, after strikes disrupted a Saudi pipeline and heightened concern about shipping through the Middle East. Brent is the main global price benchmark, so a rise of this size quickly feeds into expectations for fuel and transport costs elsewhere. Saudi Arabia’s energy infrastructure matters because even a limited outage can unsettle a market already worried that regional disruption could restrict the flow of oil. The move does not yet show how much supply will be lost or for how long; it shows traders paying more now to protect against that possibility.
