OpenAI brings ChatGPT ads and self-service buying to MENA

Thursday, September 17, 2026

OpenAI is expanding ChatGPT advertising across the Middle East and North Africa, giving regional companies and agencies a self-service tool to buy and manage campaigns rather than relying only on direct sales teams. The bet is that a chat can reveal a person’s needs more clearly than a page view: someone comparing software, planning a trip, or researching a purchase may be reachable while they are weighing options. That also makes the boundary between assistance and promotion unusually important. OpenAI says ads will be clearly labeled and kept separate from ChatGPT’s answers, will not affect what the model says, and will not give advertisers access to private conversations; the company says users can control how personalized their ad experience is.
