Qatar’s QIA backs Positron’s $875 million AI-inference raise

Sunday, September 13, 2026

Qatar Investment Authority has joined Positron AI’s $875 million Series C, valuing the U.S. company at $5 billion after the funding. It is a follow-on investment: QIA also backed Positron’s Series B in February. Positron builds the hardware and software used for AI inference—the repeated task of generating an answer after a model has already been trained—which makes it central to the cost and power demands of assistants and AI agents. The new capital is meant to move its next chip, Asimov, into manufacturing and ramp production of its Titan systems, making this a bet on cheaper, more energy-efficient ways to run AI at scale rather than on training another giant model.
