Saudi Arabia Transfers Final 25% Stakes in Four Top Football Clubs to PIF
Friday, August 21, 2026
Saudi Arabia has begun transferring the remaining 25% stakes in Al-Ittihad, Al-Ahli, Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr from their nonprofit foundations to the Public Investment Fund, giving the state fund full ownership of the four club companies. The move follows the kingdom’s 2023 football privatization drive, when PIF first took 75% stakes in each club and the remaining shares were left with nonprofit entities. It matters because these clubs are among Saudi Arabia’s most prominent teams, and the change further concentrates control of the country’s football sector under the sovereign wealth fund.
