X replaces its old ad revenue-sharing plan with an 'Original Content Rewards' program
X is ending its longtime creator revenue-sharing program and replacing it with a new Original Content Rewards system that pays creators for original posts rather than ad-revenue splits. The company said the change is meant to favor creators who contribute original ideas, reporting, commentary, and creative work, while phasing out incentives that could reward reposting or low-effort engagement farming. Existing participants can keep earning through September 7, with final payouts following in August and early September, and eligible creators will be able to apply for the new program starting September 8. To qualify, creators must meet requirements including a paid X subscription, at least 500 verified followers, and 500,000 Home Timeline impressions from verified users over the previous 90 days.
