AMD to Acquire Taalas to Boost AI Inference Chips and Software Stack

AMD has agreed to acquire Toronto-based AI inference startup Taalas, adding specialized silicon and engineering talent to strengthen its AI chip roadmap. The deal is aimed at improving inference performance and efficiency as demand grows for AI workloads that generate outputs rather than train models. AMD said it plans to integrate Taalas’s technology with its Instinct GPUs and broader AI software stack, while the acquisition still needs regulatory approval and other closing conditions.
