Saudi Arabia’s PIF approves 2026-2030 strategy to boost returns and shift capital home
Friday, August 14, 2026
Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund has approved a new 2026-2030 strategy that shifts the $925 billion sovereign wealth fund toward value creation, higher returns and more efficient use of capital, while increasing private-sector participation. The plan also emphasizes concentrating more investment at home, with Reuters reporting that PIF aims to put about 80% of its money into the domestic economy and cut international exposure to around 20%, down from a peak of 30%. The strategy is meant to support Saudi Arabia’s broader push to diversify away from oil by focusing on priority sectors such as tourism, urban development, advanced manufacturing, logistics and clean energy, while reassessing some expensive megaprojects.
