Dammam moves King Fahd Airport’s 32 million-passenger plan into design

Dammam Airports has hired international engineering firm WSP to design the development of King Fahd International Airport under its approved long-term master plan. The contract moves the project from ambition toward the detailed work needed before construction, including larger passenger terminals, better airport access, baggage systems, and other operating infrastructure. The plan targets more than 19.3 million passengers a year by 2030, with capacity rising progressively to 32 million, alongside expanded cargo and aircraft-handling capability. This is a design contract rather than a construction award, but it gives the airport operator a blueprint for enlarging the Eastern Province’s main air gateway as travel demand rises.
