Deepgram expands voice AI offering with Daily deal

Deepgram is acquiring Daily, the company behind Pipecat, an open-source framework developers use to connect speech recognition, AI models, text-to-speech, and live audio or video into voice agents. Deepgram already sells the layers that let an agent hear and speak; Daily adds the real-time infrastructure and software that coordinate those pieces during a conversation. The companies say Daily’s team and existing products will move into Deepgram, while Pipecat will remain open source and vendor-neutral through a new independent foundation. The deal gives Deepgram more of the system needed to make voice AI respond quickly and handle interruptions naturally, without—at least in principle—forcing developers to use its models. The price was not disclosed.
