YouTube brings shopping commissions to Saudi Arabia, UAE and Egypt
YouTube has rolled out its Shopping affiliate program in Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Egypt, turning product recommendations in videos into a potential sales channel. Eligible creators can tag Amazon products in regular videos, Shorts and livestreams; when a viewer follows a tag and makes a qualifying purchase, the creator earns a commission. Amazon is the program’s first retail partner in the three markets, and checkout happens on the retailer’s site rather than through YouTube itself. The change gives regional creators a revenue stream beyond ads and sponsorships, while giving Amazon a way to reach shoppers when a review, tutorial or recommendation is shaping a buying decision.
