Disney agrees to offer jobs to most Character.AI employees

Disney has agreed to offer jobs to a majority of Character.AI’s workforce, a chatbot company whose service lets people converse with AI-created characters. The important distinction is that the agreement concerns people, not necessarily a purchase of the startup or its technology: an offer still depends on each worker accepting it. If those employees join, Disney would gain a team with direct experience building consumer AI chat products. The arrangement does not yet establish what will happen to Character.AI’s remaining staff, its service, or its assets, and its financial terms have not been disclosed.
