Google splits Gemini 3.8 Flash into coding and cyber models

Google has released Gemini 3.8 Flash, a general-purpose AI model aimed at software jobs that take many steps, such as tracing a bug across a large codebase or completing a workflow with digital tools. Google says it improves coding and reasoning while keeping the Flash line’s introductory price and speed. The trade-off is that difficult requests may use more computing power, since the model can take extra reasoning steps and repeatedly use tools before answering. A separate Cyber version is designed to find and validate software vulnerabilities and produce fixes, but access is limited to trusted defenders through Google’s Fairwind program because the same capability could help attackers.
