King Salman Park moves closer to a soft opening
Thursday, October 1, 2026
Riyadh’s King Salman Park says it has awarded 95% of the contracts for its first two phases, a procurement milestone that gives most of the work a contractor and moves the vast urban park closer to a planned soft opening. Its next visible test is the Royal Arts Complex, which the park intends to hand to the Ministry of Culture within six months. The complex is designed as the park’s cultural anchor rather than simply another building, with a national theater, museum, cinemas and specialist arts facilities. A soft opening would let visitors use completed areas while work continues elsewhere, so the contract figure signals progress toward delivery rather than completion of the first two phases.
