Meta brings its Muse AI agent to the Mac
Saturday, September 19, 2026
Meta has made Muse available on Mac, extending its AI from a tool that mainly answers questions into one that can work across a person’s files and apps. The point is not simply to generate text or suggestions: Muse can be asked to carry out steps on a user’s behalf inside the computer environment. That puts it in the emerging category of AI agents, where the useful test is whether the software can reliably finish a task rather than merely explain how to do it. It also raises the stakes for permissions, since the assistant’s usefulness depends on how much access a user is willing to grant.
