OpenAI Cuts GPT-5.6 Luna API Prices 80% for Developers

OpenAI has cut the price of its GPT-5.6 Luna model by 80%, lowering it to $0.20 per million input tokens and $1.20 per million output tokens from its earlier $1 and $6 rates, according to OpenAI’s pricing update. The change makes Luna significantly cheaper for developers running high-volume automation, classification, extraction, and drafting workloads, where token costs can quickly add up. OpenAI said the reduced pricing took effect on July 30 and applies to the standard API tier, while Terra also got a smaller price cut and Sol stayed unchanged.
