OpenAI is reportedly in early discussions about a new private funding round that could value the ChatGPT maker at more than $1.2 trillion; a separate report puts the figure closer to $1.5 trillion. Those figures are possible valuations—not the amount OpenAI would raise—and no deal or final terms have been announced. The company was valued at $852 billion after a March financing round, so even the lower reported figure would mark a steep increase within months. Another private round could supply capital while allowing OpenAI to choose when to face public-market scrutiny; Sam Altman has said it will not hold an IPO in 2026.
