Qualcomm pairs Saudi 6G research with a Riyadh AI engineering hub
Tuesday, September 1, 2026
Qualcomm is working with King Abdullah University of Science and Technology on 6G, the still-in-development successor to 5G, with commercial systems targeted from 2029. The point is not simply faster phone service: Qualcomm expects AI to be built into how these networks manage traffic, connect devices, and support computing closer to users. At the same time, it has opened a Riyadh engineering office alongside HUMAIN, its Saudi AI-infrastructure partner, where teams will help develop and deploy AI data-center services. Together, the moves make Saudi Arabia a place where Qualcomm is trying to build both the next wireless platform and the computing infrastructure that could use it.
