Saudi Arabia, AMD and DCO open a new on-ramp for AI builders

Tuesday, September 1, 2026

Saudi Arabia’s communications ministry, chipmaker AMD and the Digital Cooperation Organization have launched an initiative to give developers, startups and software engineers a more practical route into building AI applications. It combines open-source software tools—code that builders can inspect and adapt—with AMD technical resources, training and a developer community. Its first workshop at LEAP 2026 also introduced participants to responsible-AI guidance from the DCO, the international group focused on digital-economy cooperation. The point is not to create a new AI model or data center, but to help local talent turn the country’s growing AI infrastructure and investment into useful products and services.
