Taiwan Raises 2026 Growth Forecast to 11.05% on AI Export Boom

Wednesday, August 19, 2026

Taiwan’s statistics agency has raised its 2026 growth forecast to 11.05%, putting the export-driven economy on track for its fastest expansion in nearly four decades as strong global demand for artificial intelligence products boosts chipmakers and related industries. The upgrade is a sharp jump from the agency’s previous 9.64% estimate in May and reflects broader strength in exports, private investment, and household spending. Officials also expect inflation to edge up to 2.07% next year, partly because of food prices and higher technology costs linked to component shortages.
