Air Arabia-led group clears key step for a new Dammam budget airline

Saudi aviation regulators have granted an air operator certificate to a consortium led by Air Arabia, allowing it to move toward launching a new low-cost Saudi carrier from King Fahd International Airport in Dammam. The certificate is more than a corporate formality: it shows the airline has met the regulator’s requirements to run commercial flights safely, from operating procedures to oversight systems. Dammam gives the project a base in the Eastern Province rather than the Riyadh- and Jeddah-centered hubs that dominate Saudi aviation.
