Anthropic seeks up to $3.5 billion from Japan for its US IPO
Anthropic, the developer of Claude, has filed to sell up to 552.9 billion yen, or about $3.5 billion, of shares to Japanese investors alongside its planned US initial public offering. This would not be a separate Japanese listing; it would let investors there participate in the share sale tied to Anthropic’s proposed Nasdaq debut. The filing does not set the final share price, number of shares, or total IPO size, so $3.5 billion is a ceiling rather than money already raised. Anthropic says the new capital would support operations and capital spending, a crucial need for an AI company that must keep investing heavily in computing infrastructure. The move shows how a major AI listing is reaching beyond US markets for funding.
