Musk tightens Grok Bot limits as costs outrun revenue

Elon Musk said Grok Bot’s operating costs had become unsustainably high compared with the revenue it brings in, after users reported hitting their usage caps much sooner than expected. The service is designed to do multi-step work on a user’s behalf, rather than simply answer a single chat prompt, so heavy use can require far more computing power than an ordinary chatbot exchange. Musk had recently described it as the fastest-growing product he had seen, making the abrupt tightening a useful reminder that rapid demand can deepen an AI company’s cost problem instead of solving it. He did not disclose the new limits, the product’s costs, or a broader pricing plan, so it remains unclear whether subscribers will face higher prices, stricter caps, or both.
