Egypt Launches Karnak Chat Pilot, an Arabic AI Assistant for Modern Standard and Egyptian Dialect

Egypt has launched the pilot of Karnak Chat, a conversational AI assistant built on the country’s Karnak large language model and designed to understand both Modern Standard Arabic and Egyptian colloquial Arabic. Developed by Egyptian experts at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology’s Applied Innovation Center, the project is being presented as a step toward strengthening local AI capabilities and digital sovereignty.
