Mobily and BytePlus plan Riyadh cloud region with up to $150m
Wednesday, September 2, 2026
Mobily and BytePlus plan to invest up to $150 million to build BytePlus’s first public-cloud region for the Middle East and Africa in Riyadh. A cloud region is not simply an online service: it is local computing and storage infrastructure that lets customers run software and keep data closer to their users. Mobily will provide data centers and domestic infrastructure, while BytePlus—the enterprise technology platform powered by ByteDance—brings the cloud and AI services. The project will focus on media, AI and gaming, where quick response times and heavy computing matter, giving Saudi companies another local option for operating digital services.
