At LEAP 2026, stc group demonstrated a 5G-Advanced network-site design it describes as net-zero carbon. The idea is less about a new consumer service than about reworking the equipment behind a cell tower: combining radio and antenna units that normally take up more space and consume more power. stc says the setup can add network capacity while cutting the energy used to transmit each unit of data, and its more compact antenna design can also reduce wind load and maintenance demands on the tower. That matters because mobile networks need more equipment as data use grows; making a site carry more traffic without a matching rise in power and infrastructure needs could lower the cost and environmental burden of expansion.
