Qatar creates a dedicated arm for its homegrown champions

Tuesday, September 22, 2026

Qatar has launched Doha Investment, a dedicated platform to manage the domestic holdings of its sovereign wealth fund, the Qatar Investment Authority. It begins with more than 40 companies—including Qatar Airways, QNB, Ooredoo and Qatari Diar—across finance, transport, telecoms, real estate, hospitality and food. Rather than simply holding those stakes, the platform is intended to work with company managers and outside partners to grow established businesses and build new ones in areas such as advanced technology, manufacturing, supply chains and healthcare. The change gives Qatar a more focused vehicle for turning state-backed companies into larger, more competitive businesses while bringing in private capital and expertise.
