Roblox turns AI game creation into a route beyond its app

Saturday, September 12, 2026

Roblox is pairing easier game-making with new ways to get games in front of players. It is expanding its AI creation tool, which can turn a plain-language idea into a playable starting point, and plans to add a scene generator later this year; it also says non-player characters will be able to help test games. More consequentially, creators will soon be able to offer their games as standalone apps on mobile, PC, and consoles, while players will be able to open games in Chrome by year-end without installing the Roblox app. The shift tackles two constraints at once: the skill and time needed to build a game, and the friction of making someone enter Roblox before they can play it—while Roblox still supplies the underlying technology and services.
