Sabic Agri-Nutrients commits to $3.47 billion Jubail fertilizer expansion

Sabic Agri-Nutrients has approved the final investment decision for its seventh ammonia and urea project and handed Samsung E&A a roughly $3.47 billion contract to design, buy equipment for, and build it in Jubail Industrial City. That decision moves the expansion from planning into execution: construction is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026, with commercial production targeted for the fourth quarter of 2030. The complex will include one ammonia plant, two urea plants, and a unit that captures carbon from industrial emissions. For Sabic Agri-Nutrients, the central payoff is scale: the new plants are expected to lift its annual urea capacity from 4.8 million to 7.4 million metric tons, a 54% increase, while reducing the emissions intensity of the products it sells.
