Saudi Arabia clears Delta’s Atlanta–Riyadh nonstop

Saudi Arabia’s aviation regulator has granted Delta a foreign air operator permit, clearing the airline to begin scheduled nonstop service between Atlanta and Riyadh. The permit is a safety authorization for a foreign airline, so it is an important operational prerequisite rather than the flight launch itself. Delta says it plans to start the route on Oct. 23, making Riyadh its first Saudi destination and the first direct Riyadh service operated by a U.S. airline.
