U.S. Imposes New Tariffs on Imports From 60 Trading Partners as Global Levy Expires
Sunday, July 26, 2026
The Trump administration has imposed new tariffs of 10% or 12.5% on imports from about 60 trading partners as a temporary 10% global tariff expired, using forced-labor enforcement concerns as the official justification. The new duties, announced in a U.S. Trade Representative notice, apply to major economies including the European Union, China, Japan, South Korea, India, the UK, Canada and Mexico, though many products such as oil and gas, fertilizer, certain foods, aircraft parts and some critical minerals are exempt. The move affects nearly all U.S. imports and is likely to raise costs across global supply chains, while also escalating trade tensions with some of America’s biggest partners.
